Early 2022, Kommunicate — an AI-Powered customer service automation platform — purchased Perdoo to help them streamline the quarterly planning process and manage their OKRs. Late 2024, our CEO had the opportunity to interview Devashish Mamgain, CEO and co-founder of Kommunicate, about their progress with Perdoo.
What accomplishment are you most proud of, in which Perdoo played a role?
One of our proudest achievements was streamlining our quarterly planning process — which used to take a significant amount of time. Before implementing Perdoo, setting goals, and tracking progress across different departments required a lot of manual effort and coordination.
With Perdoo’s structured framework for setting OKRs, we were able to drastically reduce the time spent on this process. Its intuitive interface allowed us to quickly define Objectives, assign Key Results, and track progress in real-time. This not only made goal-setting more efficient, but also ensured that all departments were aligned with our Strategic Pillars.
While Perdoo played a small role in this accomplishment, its impact on our ability to plan and execute quarterly goals cannot be understated.

When did you decide to start working with OKRs and KPIs and why?
As our team began to grow, and responsibilities shifted from the founding team to our broader team members, we recognized the need for a more structured approach to maintain alignment and accountability across the organization.
We were in a phase where everyone was managing their own tasks — but without a clear, unified direction. That’s when we turned to the OKR framework to help us set clear priorities, measure progress, and ensure everyone was working toward high-level, company Objectives.
What problem did you hope OKRs would help you solve?
We were primarily concerned with ensuring that every team and individual within our company was working toward our strategy. Before adopting OKRs, we noticed that teams often got caught up in their day-to-day tasks without necessarily contributing to our long-term Objectives.
The OKR framework and Perdoo were seen as a solution to help us maintain alignment, transparency, and focus on our most important goals.
How big was your organization at this point?
When we implemented OKRs, we were a growing organization of around 15 people. Though we were still relatively small, we realized that as we scaled, it would become even more critical to have a clear and structured way of tracking progress toward our goals.
Did you pilot other methods before opting for Perdoo, and what led to the decision to implement dedicated OKR software?
Initially, we managed our OKRs using spreadsheets —which worked well for a small team. However, as the organization expanded, it became increasingly difficult to ensure everyone was updating their OKRs regularly and staying accountable. We also struggled to visualize trends and KPIs across departments. This led us to search for a dedicated OKR software.
We tested a few other OKR tools, but they lacked the features we needed — particularly around ease of use and tracking progress over time. Perdoo stood out for its ease of use as well as its tracking and reporting capabilities. This made it the perfect solution for scaling our OKR program.
We tested different OKR tools but Perdoo was the perfect solution for scaling our OKR program.
How did you roll out OKR and Perdoo to your organization?
After creating our strategy and company OKRs, we decided to roll out OKRs gradually. We started with our Marketing and Sales teams. This approach allowed us to fine-tune our process and address any challenges on a smaller scale before expanding it to the entire company.
Once we felt confident that the framework was working well and that teams were comfortable with Perdoo, we extended the rollout to all departments. This phased approach helped us ensure a smoother transition and allowed us to tailor the process to each team’s needs.
What was the biggest challenge you faced when implementing OKR/Perdoo, and how did you overcome it?
One of the biggest challenges we faced was educating our team about the OKR framework itself — specifically on how to set effective OKRs and differentiate between KPIs and OKRs. To address this, we made use of Perdoo’s Support center and Resources hub, which provided valuable guides and tutorials.
We also conducted internal training sessions where we walked through the OKR process and demonstrated how Perdoo could be used to track progress and outcomes. This helped ensure that everyone was on the same page and understood the benefits of using both OKR and Perdoo.
We all know that setting goals is hard. You need to identify the right priorities and then formulate them in a simple and meaningful way. What is your approach to this?
Our approach begins with identifying our Strategic Pillars that drive our business forward. All OKRs are then aligned with these pillars to ensure focus on what truly matters.
At the end of each quarter, we take the time to close our OKRs — we review progress, assess what worked and what didn’t, and use those insights to refine our OKRs for the next quarter.
This iterative process allows us to continuously improve, ensuring that our goals remain relevant, impactful, and aligned with our company's ultimate goal.
Setting goals is one thing, achieving them is a whole other challenge. How do you keep track of progress and how does Perdoo help with this?
Perdoo helps by providing clear status indicators — 'On Track,' 'Off Track,' and 'Needs Attention' — which allow us to quickly spot areas that need focus.
Each month, all teams at Kommunicate share their progress with the entire company, and Perdoo’s reporting feature makes it easy to generate and present these updates. This keeps everyone informed, aligned, and accountable.
Perdoo helps keeping everyone informed, aligned, and accountable.
What are the key moments in your team and organizations that you use Perdoo?
We use Perdoo in all our monthly meetings to generate and share progress reports with the entire company. It helps facilitate transparency and keeps everyone aligned.
We also refer to Perdoo during 1:1s and all-hands meetings to review individual and team progress, ensuring goals are consistently tracked and addressed.
Perdoo is helpful in these situations because it provides a clear, real-time view of progress toward goals.
What is the most important value that you’re getting from Perdoo? Please describe what it is and why it is important to you.
The most important value we get from Perdoo is alignment. By providing a clear framework to set, track, and communicate our OKRs, Perdoo ensures that everyone in the company is working toward common strategic goals. This alignment is crucial because it keeps teams focused on what truly matters, avoids duplication of efforts, and helps us make data-driven decisions.
What insight and recommendations would you like to share with companies similar in size that are looking to work with OKR (with or without dedicated software)?
After leadership has set the strategy and Company OKRs, start by introducing OKRs to a small team, educating them on the benefits of the framework, and how to effectively set OKRs.
Establish regular reminders to update progress consistently.
Set goals that are bold yet achievable.
While many companies use quarterly OKRs, don’t adopt this blindly — choose a timeframe that best suits your organization’s stage and type of work.

More about Kommunicate
Kommunicate was launched in October 2020 to address a growing need for a more accessible way to deploy AI chatbots across various customer communication channels. While developers could build chatbots using platforms like Google’s Dialogflow and Amazon Lex, many struggled with deploying these bots on websites, mobile apps, and messaging platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram. To fill this gap, Kommunicate introduced a no-code interface that simplified the chatbot deployment process for developers. A key feature added was the human handover function, which allowed conversations to shift seamlessly from chatbots to human agents, enhancing user experience.
The platform evolved with the introduction of its own chatbot builder, Kompose, a tool that enabled non-technical users to create and deploy chatbots without coding knowledge. Kommunicate now integrates with advanced AI models from OpenAI, Google’s Gemini, and others, making it a powerful solution for enterprises that need flexible, generative AI-powered chatbots.
